Re: twin carbs
These carbs are perfect for a stock or mildly modified 1600 motor
. I see the whole set up is there just to be bolted on, manifolds, carbs and linkages. I would however haggle on the price

Re: twin carbs
SP CARBS (coincidence?) in Kempton quoted me R 850 to overhaul a set of carbs just like that

Re: twin carbs
Way too much money Dwayne....
SP carbs have gone for much cheaper here... Ask the guy for the what model Solex it is... its clearly marked on the carb body.... also make sure that those manifolds are the taller ones... (they look like it) and not the smaller ones for T3 and T4 motors. Another good thing is to make sure that the spindles, or rather the brass bushes that secure them, are not shot as the fuel would leak from there like a dripping tap. Just redoing one of them would set you back about R600 - 800, let alone the rebuild costs...
IMHO, rather save up.

Re: twin carbs
I agree that the price its a bit steep. Be patient and look around for a while. I did and finally bought the same setup for less than half that price.

Re: twin carbs
That is not a bad price, these carbs are really good, and they are becoming increasingly hard to find.If you dont buy them im sure they will be sold to some one else in no time.....its not like they are webers, they were made in much smaller numbers.

Re: twin carbs
Look around on the Shoptalkforums and other US sites, often there are guys selling IDFs and the EMPI replicas quite cheaply, you might be able to get away with a set quite cheaply. I've been toying with the idea of importing a set of Kadrons too, new ones are not that expensive...
I paid R1000-00 for a complete set of SP carbs, didn't even look too hard for hem, turned out that they had worn spindles and some internal corrosion, so sold them for exactly what I paid for them. The new owner refurbed them himself and they are now happily running.
R2500-00 is waaaay out unless the owner can prove that they are in good condition by running it on an engine or whatever.
No point in buying them for so much then still spending more money to set them up correctly...
