Bay rear brake cylinders New

Post by syncromad »

hi guys

i can get new bay brake cylinders, Oem, for R 775-00 each.

after my bay doka been at a few Vw experts in Pretoria, that did the brakes, we decided to why the brakes were still bad, rear cylinders seized and both bleed nipples missing. i was charged to sort the brakes out. i Have now decided to do it my self and not enrich people who claim to Know VW"s and charge for stuff they do not fix.

did a bit of calling around and found 5 sets with a mate, he no longer works on Vw's, but still has the cylinders in stock. fits all bays.

Not to piss on your parade but buy wheel cylinders for the rear are not all the same, early bay with wide 5 drum are different to later bay. And I agree the price is harsh, German wheel cylinders are R265 each for late bay rear 72-79
For early bay which is the same for split bus is the same price.

not to piss on your parade but Vw quote the same part number for a 68 to 79 bay, maybe they do not know their vehicles, checked the numbers on Etka the VW parts catalogue.

"made in germany" a small town in china or real germany????? These are NOS vw parts not fongkong shite, if nobody wants them that is also cool.

I did not get ripped off, i think the price is ok for NOS parts, lots of the parts that are aftermarket out of Germany are real crap, lots are good as well, I wanted The real part so i paid for it, that has nothing to do with you, i just offered a few sets that are still available to those who want the real thing, not cheap after market parts. wher Oemparts are still available, i fit them if they are reasonable priced, in my mind.

i am not pissed off just explaining the difference, to you, about genuine and aftermarket parts, which you clearly do not understand.

Valid point - I also bought some rear wheel cylinders a while ago that were promised to be OEM German and were marked as such, but it turns out that they were made in Brasil.

So yeah you do get German-Chinese and German-Brazilian parts too  :jerkoff:

German-German-NOS is still the best anyday :deflag:

Thanks Blitz,

i agree and always try to buy the best available, sometimes we have to buy the cheap stuff when nothing else is available, but for example i will not buy Tonii Cv's made in china but will buy Solid Cv's also made in china, will try to source Lobro first if available.

VW even makes parts in China Now, as is most Empi stuff but with the correct Quality control in Place.

when actually working on Vehicles makes it easier for one self to use Quality parts than do a job twice at your own cost, i always give my customer the option, if available, cheap or Quality!!! in the end it is your name in the toilet when you fit cheap parts that don't last. The customer does not lets not use "X" parts they say don"t Use"Y" shop as the work is bad.

Thanks for the history lesson.
Just to get back on track, going on your comments, you must have a certificate or documentation with you parts that prove they are OEM. BWAAAAAA :zhelp:
Hey blitz, how did you find out that a made in Germany part was actually made in Brazil ???? :jerkoff:

Because they had Brasil stamped on them, the box said that they were Made in Germany and even the vendor swore that they were German. They were cast differently from the German cylinders that came off the car too

Come on guys.... now kiss and make up! Lifes too short and all that kind of stuff... :D

OEM as per Wikipedia

An original equipment manufacturer, or OEM, manufactures products or components that are purchased by a company and retailed under the purchasing company's brand name.[1][2][3][4][5] OEM refers to the company that originally manufactured the product.

When referring to automotive parts, OEM designates a replacement part made by the manufacturer of the original part.[6]

Confusing and contradictory definitions

OEM may also refer to a company that purchases, for use in its own products, a component made by a second company.[7][8][9] Under this definition, if company A purchases optical drives from company B to put in A's computers, then company A is the OEM.

An even more confusing, contradictory definition is a company that sells the product of a second company under its own brand name.[10][3] For example, if Ford sells replacement parts (spares) made by TRW Automotive, both Ford and TRW may be called the OEM company, depending on whose definition of "OEM" is being used. Many of the parts in a new car are not made by the automotive company whose badge is on the front. Instead, there is a commercial ecosystem of suppliers (such as TRW) that participate competitively in a supply chain process whose end result is new cars. (Even entire makes and models may be rebadged.)

The companies who buy the suppliers' parts and then resell them with some amount of additional value added along the way (such as assembly and customer support) may be better termed value-added resellers (VARs) or resellers. In countries with value added taxation (VATs), the way the tax accounting is done tends to keep the concept clear in the minds of the public; whereas in the US (which doesn't use VATs), the public is not used to terms such as "value-added reseller".
