WTF, this tarring and feathering bullshit is going overboard guys, IF YOU MUST DO IT THEN DONT BE BIASED. cause clearly it only happens when the topic doesn't involve an actual split dam bus...or any bus for that matter.

Anybody can point newbies to the intro thread; it's not just a moderator duty. If you notice posts from an unintro'd newbie you should point them to the intro thread and not wait for anyone else.

I do it when I see that a person's first post is not in the newbies intro, and especially when it's a Wanted post. If a newbie hasn't intro'd themself and I don't see their first post, then I won't suggest an intro. I don't read every post and I don't take note of everyone who's intro'd themselves in the newbies thread, and I'm sure none of the other mods do either.

Be part of the solution, not part of the problem! :hangloose:

Lets set the story straight --

As I informned Dannyboy--

The carbs that he has are for a side by side configuration, and are actually mounted on a straight four engine type intake manifolds, which - could be Fiat ? and they have a common airbox. from the photo sent it seems that the manifolds are not VW.

Now, as some of us might not know, flat fours require "mirrored sets" of carbs in order to operate properly, especially with the linkage sets that are available to us. Now, side by sidecarbs can be adapted to operate as a sort of mirrored set, but there are always problems as far as throttle stops, idle stops ( which are part of the carb body) and length of spindle thread available for fitting of linkage quadrants goes, and especially the big bogeyman of having the quadrant fitted to the opposite side from the stops, which results in twisted spindles, which make carb operation quite erratic
So, I didn't say that they cant be used, but rather indicated that they are unsuitable for the job.
I also thanked danny for the picture he sent me of the carbs, and declined to make an offer on them for reasons indicated above.
