'50's Karmann Convertible Beetle - Must see!

Post by GavinHuart »

Spotted at Melville Spar. This car was perfect in every way. Strangely, the owner was not interested in chatting about it at all. He saw me gawking, leapt in and roared off despite my attempt to throw myself in front of it to get his attention...

Yes... Chris from Malmesbury' Vert.... another Cape Town gem exported to Guateng....

I wonder if he paid the full R125 000 asking price or took it in cheaper form, minus the Fuchs wheels, Judson supercharger etc etc...

That is a sweet ride for sure, and if I was checking you all over my 50's vert in a parking lot, I too would have high tailed it...

I thought so too, minus the Fuchs of course.
The only substitute for cubic inches are more cubic inches.

The friend with me recognized the number plates being from Malmesbury. I screamed to the owner that I had a '62 and he yelled back through a slit in the glass that he has a '58 saloon and a '68 as well. He drove off like the clappers so it could well have had a bit of a boost under there. It sure sounded healthy...
