Some pictures I found at my mom's

Post by VW-rules »

I found these two pictures which my mom took of me some 45+ years ago. Notice how there's always a Citroen in the background.

My parents had the Karmann when I was born. It was written off by some drunk driver who smashed into it whilst parked on the side of the road. It was replaced by the Porsche 356a until that became too small for us. Already back then, an American collector bought it.

Quite a deep rooted air cooled heritage don't you think.

Ola Mr. B,

Do you perhaps have info' handy on the Ami?

Anything at all would be appreciated. Citroen in ZA in general, actually. Chances are I know the car - and if not, know someone who does.

Feel free to PM if you prefer. :)

Thanks, Nic

Interesting...

In which country where these photos taken, one of the French-African ones?
Staying Aircooled is so much nicer.
Do'nt assume anything- (While doing fault-finding).

Just a bit more info.

The picture of the Karmann was take in a camping site in the south of France near Nice. My parents would go there most summer holidays before we immigrated to SA. The blue 3CV belonged to my uncle and was one of a few he owned. Sorry Nic that's about all the info I have.

The picture of the Porsche was taken outside our home in Belgium (Very near Spa. If any of you are familiar with the area you may know a small village near there called Bodeux hence my surname and where I hail from)

Just for interest.
Once my dad bought the Porsche he would first head East into Germany before heading South for the summer holidays. That way he could take advantage of the Autobaans and clip a few hours off the rest of his mate's times down to Nice. What would burn his ring was the local French men with their 2CVs and home ground advantage who could stick with him through the passes in the very southern parts of France  .

No worries.

Although not that desirable, Amis are rare enough around here to identify them straight off of the bat most of the time.

2CVs? I know a bit about 'em...just a tad.
