Hi All,
Would anybody be able to guide me to a website that has STANDARD cam specs, i.e. lobe height, duration, lift etc, etc, with reference to the cast in markings on the shaft itself. or has printed information that I can use
There are tons of pages on non standard ones, but can find niks on standard ones.
It's frustrating not knowing wether the cam you are fitting to a newly -built motor has been thru Pee-pee's cam grinding works or not, as not all ground cams are marked , or are marked with boolian algebriac markings.
Thanks
Bill

Camshaft timing for standard 1300-1600 type 1 engines.Specified at 1mm lift.
Inlet open- 7.5 deg btdc
Inlet close- 37 deg abdc
Exhaust open 44.5deg bbdc
Exhaust close 4deg atdc
Found these in various service manuals.
1200 models were different, around 4 different types were specified for them .Could not find total lift or rate of opening.
Also have the timing for the various type 4 engines.
Aftermarket cam manufacturers often specify at lower lift,to make it appear more impressive. Once read that the Engle 110 camshaft, advertised at 284 deg duration, has 247 deg duration at 1mm lift.

Bill, I know your'e not looking for this info, this is in response of the 1200 question.
Camshaft timing for standard 25 and 30 hp type 1 engines.
Inlet open- 2? 30' before tdc
Inlet close- 37? 30' after bdc
Exhaust open 37? 30' before bdc
Exhaust close 2? 30' after tdc
The markings on my '57 cam (1192cc) is AGV1 446.02.1
I would say the best place to get info on VW cams is the Aircooled VW Engine Interchange Manual. There are over 200 cams listed!
