Re: Porsche 356
Well, I got it to my office.
She is sitting way to high, so much for "We did lower the car"
The engine bay has no cooling cover, i see the road dude!
No interior yet, And that not my Steering column. The dude with the cream speedster? you got my steering column.
Lots of work ahead.

Re: Porsche 356
hmmmmm, I'm so glad that I didn't buy a steering wheel from them as I've heard another nightmare story from someone who bought stuff from them who's also having issues.
That nose aint been dropped at all and the back is sitting at leat 2/3 inches too high. It actually looks like it's running some positive camber and looks like it could come down way more.
Make sure that you get that cooling cover, it should be included with the price. I made one for Rabid Ant a while back and it's a cow to make. I gave him mates rates and it was R400-00 I think.
Damn........................those tail lights, what were they thinking? Did they cut holes for those things?
So overall, are you happy with it?

Re: Porsche 356
Over all I'm ok with the car.
They did glass in the duct for the wiring, no engine surround, and no Rear seat cover. Plus - no dash cover fibre glass.
I spoke to Rui last week about how to drop the front, and decide to do it myself. After taking the front off the car, we cut the top bar and turned it about 30-35 degrees, weld. We then cut the lower one and added a sway away ,so it can be adjusted to get a spot lower or higher, about 45 degrees from orginal.
With the sway away at its highest spot the car sets about four cm above the wheel- it was 6cm above the wheel. it looks like I can go as low as the wheel just in the arch.
I would like to drive the car before I attack the rear end.
Also started with the wiring. yes the light were cut through the body. Not the best quality. Thinking of ordering some light from england that will look better.
Replaced the steering colum with a referd one, and added the new steering wheel .

Re: Porsche 356
cool man, yeah, I agree, drive it for a bit and tweak and change as you're having fun in it...............it worked for me.
If you want the older look, then the lucas lights from the UK are a good buy for the back, if you want something more authentic looking then the teardrops are cool...........you will have to cut a bit and I don't know if they'll line up with the holes that have already been cut for the lights.
Give vintage speedsters a shout in the US, http://www.vintagespeedsters.com/, they have no issues about dealing with SA and are super nice and very jacked up.
Have a look at what I'm going to be doing to the back of my speedy and then see if you want to go that route. I've found a mate who's prepared to give it a go as I want the back of the car down about another 150mm.......

Re: Porsche 356
Your pan will be 100mm of the ground. Sweet.
Would love to go really low, lets see how the ride feels.

Re: Porsche 356
Pretty much............I want it as low as possible and I have the front slammed totally on the ground, now I want the back to go along.........I drive all over in my speedy and have yet to hit anything.......exhaust does scrape a tad........but I'm not phased.triton wrote:Your pan will be 100mm of the ground. Re: Porsche 356
My front is about the height of pic #2, maybe a tad higher as I have larger profile tyres........the back is just above the wheel rim...........I want the top of the rim hidden under the arch when I'm done.

Re: Porsche 356
You know, If you do that, the engine will fill the engine bay just right - No deep bucket around the engine. The engine would be easier to work on and see.

Re: Porsche 356
I gotta be careful though.......With the EFI and manifolds that I'm going to have as well as the velocity stacks and air filters, I can't go too high. The pic of the bracket that you sent is almost the same one that I got from frans at KCW, his is for a 2" raise though. More than that and you have to really mod the crap out of the shifter rod.

Re: Porsche 356
Never researched if that was an option or not.triton wrote:Would you use the T4 gear select housing?
They reckon anything higher than 2" using a stock selector set up end up cutting the back as well as mounting the shifter rod on top of the tunnel. COuld be cool if that was what you were after.
This is where I want the back of my speedster. Tucked..........
