I found this one in Junk Mail, the owner still uses it everyday. I'm thinking of going over the weekend to have a look... What do you guys think :?:

it looks OK but with those fenders and bumper it does not look like a 1968 beetle
It's not how fast you get there it's how you look when you arrive.

The "needs lots of bodywork" part of the ad is a concern. That blurry pic doesn't really show anything. Ru$t repairs can be very expensive.

Whatever you do, don't buy it without a careful inspection. Estimate the cost of bodywork repairs and then multiply by three to get a realistic idea of what the bodywork resto will cost, and that doesn't include mechanical repairs or missing parts. It's probably not as much of a bargain as it sounds.

However, if it's just dinged and not rusty, it may be a good buy. Nonetheless, a proper engine rebuild will cost about R8k, gearbox rebuild about R5k. Fittings like switches, handles, latches, locks, etc, are reproduced but must be imported.

In general when buying an old car, it's better to buy the best (likely the most expensive) one you can afford, as it's cheaper in the long run.

Keep on hunting, there's lots of them out there. Take your time and don't rush into anything and you will find the right car for you. :hangloose:
