Have been on this site for almost two years and haven't introduced myself. I am 17 years old, I live in the Karoo and have owned a '68 beetle (Martha) since I was 13. She is hopefully up for a full resto this year. I also own a '72 Microbus L (Molly Morgan). I am still very much a newbie to anything mechanical, have been going for the last 5 years with the assistance of a Heynes Manual (my Bible) and the learn from-your-mistakes system. Its great to be part of such a flourishing community and look forward to meeting other members as well as giving the guru's a workout with stacks of stupid questions.
Cool ! I love Prince Albert :hangloose: We need to see some pics of Molly Morgan ASAP.
(Do you know Jonny, the dude with all the Valiants?).

Mark when I had engine woes in Durban 2 years ago, I ended up at a place in Clairwood, which is south of Durbs, Stella Motors, look him up, can't remember his name, a German dude. He was pretty good. Good luck !

Yip, I know Johnny Breedt. He lives just down the road from me and owns some beautiful Valliants. Prince Albert is a great place to be, exept when it comes to getting spare parts...
Isn't that what you'd expect from VW?

HI all, my name is sduduzo. A timid unmechanical zuluboy who recently took delivery of a Speedster 356. I AM LOVING IT !!!! I am not mechaniclly inclined but willing to learn, I love the idea of having a project car(s) and learning as I go along, the stares and the whistling are not bad either whenever I take the speedster for a drive...I do ope to learn from this forum,
I love car parts, I love money...one of these takes money the other brings happiness...

Hi mates, My name is Gabriël Roos, also n newbie. I've been into bugs for some 9 years and I own 3 of them, so I am not totally lost on the mechanical side of these little bad boys... Anyway, I am also a member of the Volksworld forums. Recently I started to feel a little alone on Volksworld because most all of the members are either in England or the USA... so i started to search for comrades a little closer to home... so here I am... :hangloose:

I will post often so as to get rid of the status of Drip
Cheers

(For @Jolas, @HitlersRevenge, @retrovan)

Hi, guys

Here is my formal reintroduction!

I own a (now faded) yellow '72 1.6l (which still says 1300 on the back, I'm keeping it for sentimental reasons).
The beetle is a he and definately not a she. He is called the GeelGevaar, as we have had many km's of fun zipping past other vehicles on the N1. And I've taught many taxi's very important driving lessons with the help of my car.

GeelGevaar has been mine since Nov/Dec '06. I'm the third owner. Since then he has had the engine upgrade (1300 to 1600).

We've had many awesome road- and camping trips together. He even supported me through my (very brief) trance party stint. :)

Unlike any other vehicle I have ever owned, my car is temperamental. When it's time to go to the car doctor he *remarkably* works again for a week, and then breaks yet again.
Currently the Gevaar is not in working condition. He is parked at home, until I could find someone in Somerset to fix him (and yesterday I found just that place!)

As for where I work: No, I am not an exporter! I don't even have the moola to have my baby sprayed! :P
I work at the caravan & camping magazine WegSleep as the web/social media person aka Nikky. (I don't mind you guys knowing this, as our readers already know exactly who I am... and know my Beetle! not always such a good thing.)

My inquiry in general discussion was for a piece we do in the magazine which looks like this... {LINK to article in Afrikaans}http://www.wegsleep.co.za/storie/sleeps ... nse-gevolg

Any more questions?

^_^

 Guys, no wonder we have so few female members.

Welcome again, BeetleGirl. Wegsleep is one of my four favourite magazines. I never leave home without a few copies to keep me entertained at night.

Would love to help with the article but the only thing I normally tow is one of the ACVWs giving problems. :D

Did you guys do the Weg Namibië 2011 as well? I'm reading that at the moment and can't wait for a chance to visit.

Keep up the good work! :hangloose:

Hi, Beetlefanatic! Glad you read our mag!
No, only Weg! Did Namibia, that's their baby completely. They only steal some of our recipes for the food mag.
Have a great weekend!
