Metal shaping tools

Hi I just recieved the new Adendorfs catalog today
They have a bunch of very hard to find stuff as new items this month
1 Bead roller (only they call it a rotary machine) page 8
2 shrink and stretch machine page 9
3 english wheel and planishing hammer page 7

before anybody hammers them.......
I bought my compressor from them in 94 its still going strong today
hammers were crap But a few is still going strong
air tools are still working since 94
I use the measuring mikes on every engine
spraygun now 10 years
washing tank 5 years and still working
I buy a new set of screwdrivers every 2 years
my tool chest also dont give hassles
My lathe does what its bought for
I didnt like the gasless mig and sold it for what I paid

although most stuff is DIY use I must say that I am quite satisfied price versus quality

Seen them. The shrinker/stretcher at R1900-00 is not too bad, although the same thing should be under $150 at Harbour Freight......

Bead roller - probably worth it for the dies if you don't have access to a lathe to make them yourself. Again Harbour freight carries one for under $100 - I bought one for $79 and binned the machine, just got the dies. Never finished building my machine though - haven't needed it....

E-wheel/planishing hammer combo. I'd need to see one in person, but doubt it's worth anything. A flimsy e-wheel is a waste of time. Trust me. Although it may help if the anvil wheels are out of round (which they very likely are)
For way less than R7.5K you could build your own P-hammer for a lot less using a descaler/air chisel. I very much doubt there is a decent air motor in there. CP one will run you $1000 or so.......

SO

Shrinker/Stretcher is a go. Bead roller maybe. E-wheel don't bother.
And the shrinker/stretcher is the only one that you actually "need".......

I know it is blowing my own trumpet, but spend R4500-00 on a course and you will get WAY more benefit.
Or save another R4000 and buy David Gardiner's DVD and teach yourself....

Hi I also would rather build these tools, Barry but plans and drawings elude me so far.
What actually made me think twice is the fact that there is a market for these things which is good news as it means that a almost lost art is being revived.

Also Armand, get hold of David Gardiner's DVD at metalshapingzone.com - you will see why you don't NEED to build these tools to get started in shaping metal properly....

@ Beetlefanatic , I run the courses on demand, but recently decided it would also be a good idea to start a new magazine......

Next course is 9-11 September, but that one is full already (only one spot left).
After that I plan to run one a month depending on demand (and if the mag doesn't kill me first)
