GARAGE - classic custom culture: New Magazine

Post by Barry »

Hey all

Some of you know about this already, to those who don't here's a heads up:

I am involved in the start-up of a new magazine. This is going to be something pretty awesome, unlike anything that is being done currently.
For that reason, it is hard to put it in a box, and obviously I don't want to give away TOO much about our strategy and approach right now.

Safe to say though that ACVW's will be featured in numbers. We will not only be looking for top of the line cars, but also the stories behind the everyday builds.
This will be a magazine that is a part of what is happening out there in your Garage.....

And of course we will be inviting ideas for contributions etc.

Please go check out the Facebook page in my sig below, and "like" us (if you do). There are going to be some styling give-aways in the build-up to launch, all running off FB et al, so please get on there and help us make this into something huge!!

This is a much needed magazine to the local scene, especially if there is no discrimination between ages and types and and and of cars :hangloose:

Ok let me see now - 2 copies sold, 5998 to go.......LOL

Thanks for the "likes" guys.

I hope we can cater to as wide an interest as possible, without diluting things and being watered down or not having an identity.
The focus is going to be as much on the stories, and people as it is on the cars or whatever else is featured.
Celebrating the really good stuff that is being done in Garages all over SA.

Of course there are no illusions about pleasing everybody, but we want to make this a magazine, a phenomenon even, that people can feel that they are part of.
That includes as much as it inspires.

It is going to be a tall order, and it is being done because of passion and a belief in what we do. I don't expect to see great returns from it - hell I hope I can just get it to survive.

But with help from communities like this one it will.

WHo is doing the design of the magazine?
Design is my field, if you need input in any way, I am willing to assist!
Good luck! Looking forward to it

Good luck with the mag Barry :hangloose:

Is your mag going to be country wide?

Thanks Guys!!

I will try to keep as much info as possible happening on the Facebook page - please follow us on there. Going to be running some nice competitions/promos in the build up to launch.
The launch will be something pretty cool, but is going to stay under wraps for a little while longer.

We have an EXCELLENT head designer, and another really talented contributor already. But of course are always open to suggestions - thanks for the offer Mince.
We are going to be open to ideas and suggestions, and looking for material from all over.

Magazine will be national, but as anyone in the game knows, sorting out distribution on a small volume publication is a PITA. Luckily we have plan B through F to help in this regard......

John, as long as I can help empty the bottle of Jack you've probably got yourself a deal there boet!!
