I fitted a pair of lap belts to my 58" the doors fly open when you do a dougnut and i almost fell out...... twice   but i dont think you would need em for roadworthy but it a good idea even if you dont do dougnuts !
My biggest fear is that my wife sells my cars for what i told her they cost !!

Not needed for RWC, but not optional for driving.

Which make and model car seat belts work as bolt on's for the old Beetles????????

As the inertia reel has to hang at the right angle......

Do not want to go the lap type, as I broke my face with a lap type in my old Fasty.

That's my excuse for my ugliness, and I AM sticking to that story......

I've fitted inertia reels to a 63 Beetle before. I don't remember any particular difficulty. I just bolted the inertia reel to the edge of the floorpan at the base of the A-pillar.

I am with Fig on this one:

My 58 passed roadworthy without seatbelts on the 31st of Dec 2010 (Randburg).
Not needed for RWC, but not optional for driving.
Although my own 58 does not yet have it's seatbelts fitted  Soon, Promise!

You will break more than your face should you choose not to have them at all
No sense being pessimistic. It wouldn't work anyway.

I have fitted inertia reel type to my '78 Bay Window and the Buggy with no problem.
Had to fit an angle bracket to the floor at the seat on the bus to mount the reel and the "stop" strap
All work just fine and I now feel a liitle safer ....................
Now what do I do about the taxis ???
who dat who say who der when I say who dat ?
