Petrus gets new seats

Post by jmvv »

I got fed up with the NRX seats that were fitted to Petrus (OLD bones, deep seats - not a good match)

The fact that SWAMBO complained that she hated riding with me as she cannot see out of the car also played a major role.

So I found a nice pair of seats out of a Corsa Gamma bakkie and the swop was on.

We (Andre) had to modify the seat mounts slightly, but the seats fit perfectly.
And the driver seat is height adjustable for the vertically challenged nogal.

Seats look MILES better now, but why change the steering wheel? the wooden one looks better IMO, and probably makes it easier to control.
I put in one of those steering wheels in my old '74 bug ... and hated it

The pic with the wooden steering wheel was from before Petrus went AWOL - but that's another story.

The kid that bought him from me did not like the look of the wooden steering wheel, so we changed it - the old steering wheel went to a deserving forum member.

When I saw how the car was being abused (it still has a hole in the rear seat from a fire after some drive-in hanky panky), I bought Petrus back.

The shifter is the EMPI unit with the round ball.

does the shifter work well? I would like to look into getting either the one you have or a CSP or Flat Four t-bar shifter
