Late Beetle parts in Cape Town.

Post by Dawie »

1) Front suspension with arms& spindles, no noticeable play in link/kingpins. R380.
2) Fuel tank- still looks nice inside- R150.
3) Cardboard for luggage compartment- it has a tear-(no, it's not crying, "dit het n skeur"), R15.
4) Various chrome strips+ left front window surround, (needs cleaning)- R40.
5) Flywheel 200mm- R250
6) Large taillights, one lens has a chip as in picture, + odd lights in picture- R70.
7) For sixties model 1200- one singleport 1200 head- R50
8 ) Type 3 rear brake drums with backing plates, as in pictures. Good splines& good threads for wheelnuts. R200 per drum and backing plate, or R350 for both sets.
1870

9) Rear seat for late beetle-dark brown. Had cover over, so in good condition but a bit dusty from storage + rear panels. Can have front doorpanels as well but their lower part is a bit pap- R140 for all.
10) Pedal assembly- R30. Later beetles had this wider spacing for clutch pedal, and think it can be used on pre-68 models, but may be in the way of floor-mounted dipswitch on very early cars.
11) Quarter windows with frames, latch and rubbers- R25 each or R40 for both.
12) Rear window- R50
13) Sunvisors with clips, ventilation box with controller, armrests, and various odd thingies-R30
1871

14) Windscreen as in picture- R40. Has very short minor crack across one lower corner, crack not going any further. Considered throwing it away, but may help some poor student?

Can bring parts to Saturday's meeting at FFR if it is more convenient. Parts in Avondale at the moment. Goes to first who brings cash. Will be difficult for me to make up parcels, so would prefer to sell local in Cape Town.
Staying Aircooled is so much nicer.
Do'nt assume anything- (While doing fault-finding).

Jolas has first option on the type 3 drum assemblies.

Muderick-First option- Trimmings, cardboard lining, 1200 head.

That headlight is not so nice, (pirate part). It is actually part of the group of lights Rouxlouis has first option on. Those were originally meant to be just the taillights, but i just added the rest to get rid of them.

Above people are welcome to first inspect the parts and decline if it is not what they need.

Sorry, no oval parts. The ones i have, i keep if i want to change my car back to standard one day.
Forgot- there is one oval-part- the sunvisor/rearview mirror assembly. But condition is not good... needs new mirror-glass and part of mounting-ear is broken.

Also have a late 69mm crankshaft that is still standard on mains and standard on rod bearings. Has minor surface rust. Ideal to have counterweights welded on, (as it then has to be cut in any case to be straight after distortion from welding heat).
Not sure if i want to sell it at this stage.
