Hi Muds

He is South Africa's foremost VW Beetle Historian....he worked at VW Uitenhage while the beetles & busses were assembled.
I also believe that he has a lot of material that has been archived by VWSA
In his head lies the key to many of our questions.....

I wonder if he is the same guy who phoned me out of the blue yesterday, I thought he said John Lenon, he got my details from a friend who had read an article I wrote a while ago regarding the restoration of my '56 ambulance. He says he has a brochure with a detailed layout and inventory of a 1965 VW ambulance which he will photostat for me :hangloose:

That is good news.

The story goes that VWSA destroyed most of it's aircooled history. (Not referring to the car-carrier with historical vehicles that crashed, but the documented history). The little bit of documents that was left could fit inside a shoe-box, and that was handed to John Lemon.

Looking forward to John's contribution.
Staying Aircooled is so much nicer.

Hey there all,

Just for your info, John Lemon is a SUPER cool guy and has a wealth of knowledge as far as anything VW is concerned - I have had dealings with him and he is the most generous and kind person that I have met in a VERY long time :) I am sure he will be a definite asset to ACVW.

Lets get him to join ACVWSA,
Would be nice to have a guy like that on the forum from time to time.
Is he not still connected to the Auto Pivilion in Uitenhage.
That would be great.
Es, Jolas, Rouxlouis, Please invite him to join the ACVWSA Forum......

Mr Lemon drives a lovely coral coloured oval with an interesting history. I'm not certain but I think he was able to get autopavillion to take part in the last VW exercise we had in PE http://www.aircooledvwsa.co.za/viewtopi ... 45#p176045 .

Ladies & Gentleman
Legend John Lemon is away on a trip for a few days and will contact me as soon as he gets back.
I will introduce him in this thread and I am certain that he will become the Dr. Phil or Dr. Ruth of this site.
Behold people.......the legend has been found ...... and the truth shall set us free!
All the answers we seek lies within John Lemon's melon!
I will try and pursuade Mr. Lemon to write a manuscript containing all the info that was lost in translation & archiving.
No more pondering about 6Volt, Ovals, Splits, Torque, Authenticity, Engine v. Chassis, Colour codes, etc.....
Patience is a virtue.....and once the Lemon's melon is opened....there will be peace on earth.
When the legend arrives to this forum, please give him the warmest welcome possible.
Thanx dudes & dudettes!
Keep it real!
Louis

Met up with John today - by accident - and arranged for him to autograph my copy of "Re-in-car-nation" the book he wrote about the Citi Golf history. Now my copy means even more to me. Thanks John...
