Hi everyone,
Yesterday a group of us were on our way back from a classic car run.
We stopped to fill up and get something to eat. Upon returning to the cars, someone approached our group telling us that he had just witness a man in a "new" <make and model of car> reverse out, scraping one of our cars in the process.
The concourse car has sustained damage.
The witness confronted the driver, but he elected to speed off without leaving his details.
We have the car details and the registration number.
The witness is happy to state what he saw.
How do we go about tracing the details of the driver? We would like to pursue this.
If you can help but prefer to do so via a PM, please do so. It would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.

go to the police and open a case for the accident (as you should within 24hrs of the accident anyway). Give them all the details.

That's being sorted as I write this.Tony Z wrote:go to the police and open a case for the accident (as you should within 24hrs of the accident anyway). Give them all the details.
We have some bodywork favours due to us, so we're trying to avoid getting insurance involved and the requisite excess fee. We suspect the A'hole has no insurance.

You should be able to go to the licencing dept, pay a small fee, fill in a request form and get the information. Have you tried this?

I was under the impression that the 'public' could not get access to details like that. I'll check it out, thanks.CooP wrote:You should be able to go to the licencing dept, pay a small fee, fill in a request form and get the information. Have you tried this?

Hey there Merlin,
If you go to the traffic department and give them the reg no. tell them that you are looking at buying the car and want to know if there are any outstanding fines. This has worked for me in the past. Also if the seller is the rightful owner - give them some arb name, they will correct you!
