German Helmet Gear knob

Post by Donovan D »

My father has been busy making a WW2 helmet as a gear knob for the bus,
Some pics of the helmet. First the helmet made with clay

Next was adding the releasing agent and covering with fibreglass to make the mould

Filling the mould, and then removing the contents

Now for some spot putty, giving it a sand and painting it.

What do you guys think ?
Any ideas for color or emblems on it.

That's cool! I love when someone takes some time on finishes and adding finer details.

Thanks guys, I think this will fit the bus nicely
Mince I like the look of that second one, the print might be difficult as the helmet is not that big.

Very cool! How've you strengthened it enough to handle engaging reverse? My bus you have to give a huge amount of pressure to get the gear lever down...
