While on the topic of the famous three-pointed star, I recently found these pics of the SA Presidential 600
Landaulet (or 'stretched limo') - as was used by John Vorster, PW Botha and FW de Klerk. A few years ago my father saw this car in a government garage in Simons Town, where it stood badly neglected and with serious water damage to the interior as some of the windows were not closed properly. Note opening rear and the unique SA Union badges on the bumper and on the roof (where it is illuminated like the cross of a split ambulance) - does anyone know where these pics were taken? (I assume it is at the Mercedes Museum in Uitenhage?)
