I am still wondering how people "fully recondition" a sub for that kind of money.

Does it include new pistons / bored sleeves / new valves / guides / ground crank / uncracked heads / re-sIzed and line bored casing with no pulled studs / quality parts or fong kong? Refurbed pulley / re cond flywheel / new bearings all round / faced followers , and all the bits that go into a good rebuild?

Do the sums---------------on reputable machineing and quality parts-------------

Let me put you out of your misery Forcecooled

It is not a question of bad machining, bits not done or :bn: or dodgy parts being used

We are a reputable company - you can ask any of the guys that have had their work done here - AKA "Dutch_Diver", "Jolas", "Warwick_Lowlight", the list goes on and on.......... NOT one of them have been ripped off or had any complaints about their engine rebuilds OR the pricing

It actually boils down to a few simple things:

1. We know what we are doing !
2. We use reputable engineering works THAT ARE NOT GREEDY AND DONT RIP US OFF!!
3. We will install ON SITE a sub-assembly for R 1000.00 - BECAUSE WE CAN!!!
4. We prefer our clients NOT to live in constant fear of being RIPPED OFF - unlike the SHARKS in
OTHER AREAS!!
5. We also like to keep the costs reasonable in order to keep these lovely cars on
the road - it's called PASSION!

LASTLY - We are here for the LONG HAUL - not to make a quick buck off of unsuspecting folks and then disappear when the :bn: hits the fan

WE ARE PROUD OF THE WORK THAT WE DO AND HAVE A GOOD REPUTATION - WE INTEND TO KEEP IT THAT WAY!! :hangloose:

You are always welcome to come and visit us to see for yourself :D

Thanks Juergen,

Misery??

I wasnt specifically pointing out a particular supplier. One hears of motors selling for around that price from all over the country

Comment was - generally, how is it done, because if you add up the costs of parts, and machining, certainly for what is available here, and, the chance that the trade-in sub is junk, there is not a lot of meat left .

Thank you for clarifying your standpoint.

No offence meant to you or your company.

No offense taken :D

It is always a good thing to HAVE these bits and pieces "Lying Around" :TIC: After 46 years in the trade, Juergen knows what is good to keep and what isn't - we are also in the fortunate position of being KNOWN as the VW people in this area - that does help, as many folks BRING their bits to us to buy.

At the end of the day, we have also got a LOT of stock and because the bits and bobs have been here for quite some time - we did not pay today's prices on ALL of them, thus the better price and we are still able to make a little something out of the deal. This means capital tied up for a long time - but we can offer better prices :D

Have a STUNNING WEEKEND :hangloose:
