I have yet to find an auto electrician I'd trust to rewire an ACVW. You would want someone who can duplicate the original colour coding, or you will seriously devalue your car.
Whenever I get a new ACVW, one ofthe first things I do is strip out all non-factory wiring and reconnect all original wiring after cleaning all contacts. That usually gets everything working fine. If I do need to replace any wiring, I have a few scrap ACVW wiring harnesses handy, which I cut the relevant colour wire from the middle of; usually like new.
Another useful thing is to solder all the joins in your fuse box. They were just crimped together and are usually a bit loose after 40+ years.
Cleaning all contacts and soldering your fuse box are things you can easily do yourself and will most likely fix the problem without going to the expense of rewiring your car.
