So...what are you doing on your car for 2012?

Post by Blitzkrieg »

What do you have planned for your aircooled for 2012?

I'm planning on driving the fastback until the end of February and then sell it after the KKKKKK event...

Would like to start a new project, an early Beetle, have gone to see one or two, now just need to find something really straight...

Also started messing about with some watercooled VWs too - fun of a different sort 8)

Go on, don't be shy, tell us all what you have planned :hangloose:

What I have planned is to have some money to continue with my project. That is what I am planning.

For starters just getting my Buggy to start would be nice........ got a feeling the MicroTech feul management is keeping me busy.

The SC is getting a Buggered 'box with longer ratios.......had a refreshed paint job and lots of new bits at the end of last year.

The Ghia is in need to have all spares unpacked and see what new stuff needs ordering......

Time.

This year - 2 projects ...... My '59 bus must come to life and my single cab fire truck must get completed. Busy collecting spares for the '56 ambulance - but that is going to be one LONG project.
Somewhere in the middle my Wendy woman is going to give birth to a small Jolas - so - it is going to be an interesting year !

Beetle: not much, swop out my front beams for the shortened ones, new king and links, get it reliable again, dyno tune maybe.
Elise: buy it a nice car cover and maybe an upgraded toe link. do occassional track day and car show.
Birkin: need to re-skin the car(towards end of year), new paint( after re-skin), new floor pan, flog the modified engine, flog the dry sump, put in standard blacktop, wide track the front suspension, adjustable brake bais, side impact bars, dyno tune, new exhaust, air-fuel ratio gauge and race the daylights out of it(starting this month on the 28th)!
Lollette: fix it, maybe drive it once or twice.
Brothers Formula Vee: Shorten it back to original spec, strip and powder coat frame, build engine for it and sort out a few small things. Race the daylights out of it!
From fastest to slowest:

Birkin race car, not much is standard
Lotus Elise 111R, almost everything is standard
'75 SP 1600 with a few mods
B8 A4 Avant tdi, towing made easy

This year has got 52 weeks, thus 52 weekends making it 104 days to work on my projects. Ample time to sort out my beetle and bius. Now for the funds, thats a different story all together.

I have to replace the floorpans on my yellow baja.
Also have plans to build it a spare engine with a 76.4mm waterboxer crank and maybe a big bore kit.

That's what the other 260 days are for...

I'm getting my Notch back, so I have to fit the glove tray and the rear boot luggage rack. They all need to look nice, so there's Christmas already... 2012 sorted...
