Adriaan Pienaar invited me via thesamba.com to come here...
My name is Domi and together with my girlfriend I'm travelling the world in a VW Herbie replica from 1963 with a camper in tow - powered by 34 horses (1200 cc). We started our journey in Austria and we covered Europe, Asia, Australia and North America so far. I thought you'll be probably interested in this story which I'd want to share with you. Since our departure in September 2009 we've already driven more than 75,000 miles (120.000 kilometers) in Herbie pulling the trailer and we even went through all 48 continental United States.
Now there's just South America and Africa missing. We'll see what we can do. Maybe we'll get to South Africa too sometime...
Anyway you can check out our brand new blog where you can follow our world trip:
That would be great, if you made a plan to see South Africa!
I myself have a Herbie and would love to meet fellow Herbie lovers!
Will keep an eye out for you!

Hey, that's me! Welcome to ACVWSA, we are looking forward to hear about all your adventures, and it will be awesome to meet you if you decide to include Southern Africa in your tour. Countries Like Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique, Swaziland, Lesotho and of course SA are very safe and tourist friendly, and you will really enjoy seeing it. Hope to hear from you soon
Thank you so much for your very warm welcome! That is awesome!
As I said we'd love to come to South Africa! The thing is, there is just that big lake between you and where Herbie and we are located right now. But yeah, maybe we'll get to Southern Africa after South America - we'll see!
It would be really great to meet you guys and quite an experience to see South African air-cooled VWs!!
Tomorrow, Saturday, we’ll leave Ridgecrest, California, early in the morning heading East through the entire Southwest of the USA and Mexico in order to ship Herbie from Veracruz to Columbia, South America. Down there we want to follow the so-called Pan-American Highway to very bottom of Chile.
We’ll try to keep you posted on our blog while we are on the road exploring another part of this world in our Volkswagen Beetle from 1963. Just 34 horses will hopefully lead us across continent number five on our trip around the globe. We made so far more than 76,000 miles (122,000 kilometers). You can always find the current total mileage and our location on the right side of our page.
We hope everything goes well and we return to North America safely!
