The little I understand from this posting is that somebody want his rims chromed and want to know if it is a good thing. From talking with a place that chrome items, it is not a problem on steel , wheels, bumpers, trim, etc. but on alloy wheels the chemicals used to prep and do the chrome reacts with the alloys and make the rim brittle. To the point when you put side forces on it, like turning, the wheel might crumble or break. Thats why they do not recommend aluminum/alloy wheels. But if you want a shiny look, remove the paint and buff the alloy wheel to a shine and clearcoat. Or the latest, I believe it would be available in SA by now, is the chrome paint, when applied by a pro painter it looks just like it has been chromed.

Yip I want to have my steel rims Chrome, but I phoned a place in Cape Town, RSA, who do chromeing and thy told me that it is not a good idea to chrome the rims, but they will do the rest that I what to chrome.

I do not know if it is to a big job for them or not????????

Who manufacture those chrome paint there by you, maybe I can import the product my self.

Thanks, I don't know the 'black chrome'

But are the other strong enough for rims. then I will tri it.
