Thanks for all the compliments guys! Really appreciate it :D

@ Splitbusaholic: It's difficult to quote pricing as prices fluctuate depending on what is required for each project. Truth be told, I haven't yet got a total cost from the panel beaters as there was a lot more involved in this bus than initially expect. They have had to take a longer time to complete this job. The parts are also a difficult thing to quote as their prices too go up and down.

Perhaps, as a basic indication to date, I can let you know where I stand with everything I've spent on far including: gearbox replacement, tires, rims, misc. bits and pieces (badges and such), panels to replace rotted metal, brakes, walkthrough seats, upholstery, rubbers, paint prep stuff and paint, latches and the list goes on...

I bought the bus for R52k including it's transportation to Jhb and am now well over the R100k mark (which includes the purchase price) with still a way to go if I want the interior as I do ;) There is no doubt that it's a lot of money but I see it to be well worth it. I've heard of people spending near R50k on paint jobs alone  .

Hope this helps anyone wanting to start a project. As I've said, and I'll say again, there was a lot more involved in this project than initially thought.

I am over the moon with it! :D

Will update more pics after we start reassembly. The seat rails are the next thing to be put into place. Watch this space... ;)

Well done, looking good.
Are you going to leave it "walk through"
Now you can see why the price of splits run so high, if the job is done right, its well worth it, in satisfaction alone....
the bus you want, has not money restraint, you go on till you happy with it.
Enjoy...

Hi retrovan!

I totally agree with your whole message :D . As for the question above, I couldn't find a proper front bench seat. That and this bus had it's bulkhead removed sometime earlier in it's life. I went with the walkthough idea as I sourced their rails with them. I'm pretty tall at 6'10" so we're planing on welding the seat rails a little further back than a stock seating position. They will be in there for good.

It's not easy fitting in one of these when you're this tall. Come hell or high water, I'll fit though!
