1964 Notch - The green goblin

Ok so this is my 1964 Type 3 Notch.

I bought her about 2 weeks ago after seeing one for the first time on our way to George.

I instantly fell inlove with the look of the car. Its just awesome

Now some info on the car.

The car has been standing for over 7 years. In that time the interior was redone and the body resprayed. Everything on the car is still original and in good condition.

I need to assemble some of the car still but no biggy. I also need to replace the center brake line as well as the front and rear window rubbers. Still running the stock 1500 motor and box and has been converted to 12v

My biggest issue is that the licence is behind since 05 but should hopefully be able to sort it out soon. anyhow will post up more when I get busy with redoing it

So its been awhile... still not on the road... haha... but a couple of pics to follow.

Ok so lets begin.

Since my last post I've been working on the rear brakes, the holes in the floor as well as one or two other issues... only got enough cash together to pay the licence this month so gonna do that tomorrow. Yay! R5000 down the drain for the licence fees!

Anyhow... now I'm still sitting with the problem of the brakes though. New rear pads amd cylinders new line to the back and a new seal kit for the master cylinder... now only thing that would cause crap is the master cylinder still... any idea where I can get a new one?

Moving on... then there is the issue of a major leak under the dash... water pissing in somewhere... sigh... and then there's the floor... gonna try and fix it by cutting and welding new metal in.

Other than that it looks promising. Motor is running smooth.(except for the auto choke on the Carb, suggestions?) All lights ect ect work... slowly but surely getting there.

your Notch looks great - R5k is a lot of money - but at least THAT part is over with now

the leaking water under the dash might be from the fresh air system as the outlets often get blocked and then water which enters the vents in front of the windscreen then gets in the car

Haha true that... sigh... well that's done. Haha.

How do you get to those vents to clean them?

If memory serves, there is a water catch tray (or two) underneath the dash. They come off, I think they are held with a clip jubilee type thing. The rubber seals are ussually shot on these but you can reseal them with silicon, or better yet, cut new ones from rubber. Each of these trays have a rubber pipe that runs inside the car through the fire wall to a drain hole which is inside the front wheel arch. Dismantle, clean and put back... Memory is pretty vague on this, mind... Trick is not to park under a tree.
