Hello OD_1,OD_1 wrote:lol, dont think the people on this forum are to EXCITED about you buying one and taking it to Italy... The 1600S is arguebly the most uniquely south african beetle of them all, and we love keepin them close by... I'm sure i read somewhere on the forum that VW SA only made about 3000... dunno how correct that is though.
Theres plenty of info on it on the forum. If u wanna find out more I guess the best thing to do is try searchin...
In SA we keep our friends close... and our beetles even CLOSER!!
thanks to have answered to my question; 1600s is one of the most interesting beetles ever produced, much more proportioned than European 1303 and with an interior better refined, a very-very nice car!!! I'ts unknown in Europe, for all these reasons I'm dreaming to own one, but now I'm restoring an European 1302 "Weltmeister", 1600s is only a dream...

Re: info about 1600s Superbug
Cant find the forum topic with all the pics of these cars, found three Kombi's at Pick N Pay at the Glen shopping centre this afternoon.JamesD69 wrote:Under a similar argument, the 1600S is a "chinese" knock off of the 1303, It looks the part but under the skin its not really...
Henry, I may be able to knock up a few badges soon, I'm making beetle scalextric for myself and the moulding process went very very well, see for your self...
In the second picture the grey beetle (1st attempt) was a different resin. the middle beetle (attempt 2) has perfect detail but is a bit heavy. The other beetle (attempt 3) is light and thin walled and perfect detail. By the way, they not just resin, there is actually glass tissue in there as well so they strong as anything. (Mince, another teaser). The detail is coming from the gel coat and the strength is from 1- 2 layers of glass
Just need to make myself a vacuum chamber, so pull the bubbles from the resin.
So SP badges, light weight lotus badges and any number of other parts may soon be possible at a high level of detail...

I shoved then to the back of the shelf and put some other stuff in front of them if anyone is looking for a Bus or three!

The two secrets to success: 1) Don't tell everyone everything that you know
