I think there is a engine restriction for the formula vee's. Something like 1600cc max with single port heads and a single carb.... not 100% sure.

might be 1300 max... we still have to find out. been focusing on the Birkin lately. but if any one laughs at us at track day then we will just stick my 1776 engine in and then go laugh at them...

I'm not sure if the vee will be allowed on Sunday track days. Wednesday practise yes.

Looking good James. We are currently restoring Werner Alker's Vee, but sadly I don't think it's going to see the track anytime soon. Can't wait to see you guys out on the track. Good luck with the rest of the restoration.

Thanks. IF my brothers put their asses into gear and really push hard today and tomorrow then we may even be able to make track day on sunday.

Would love to come see Werners Vee. How far along are you guys? We had a very good look at the two Vee's at the Zwartkops international, Historic racing is the way forward. What year is Werners car?

LOL @ 4agedub I will let him know, but the Kubel might be the next one to be restored.
James
I just sprayed the frame last week. Our friend Anto Dekker from Exclusive conversions is doing the body work. Was that Alan Kernick's cars that you were looking at? He is a great guy when it comes to early Vee . We are not sure what year it is, but think it might be a Daytona Vee, so maybe a late 60's or early 70's.
You welcome to come have a look. PM me if you interested.

So after fixing Puma's and all that, we managed to get a bit done on the Vee. 1600 all kitted out and gave it a quick run, oil pressure was good. New gauges in. Rear glass work is extended, filled in and taking shape nicely...

Justy Started Helping Nic Tennant with his Vee Transmission. They run the Golf motor in their Vee`s was at Welkom the other day and next week going to East London
so Quite a new learning Curve on the Transmissions from Drag Racing to Track racing but it is a nice Challenge
Adapterplates Available for Rotary in Beetle and others aswell

New boots on. Cleaned up a few things. Front slave cylinder out, need a new one. And a lot of body work on the rear.

So bugger, what all is different on the circuit gearboxes over the drag boxes? shorter ratios?

It all depends on how far you want to go...
eg the gearbox on my red bug is running a 2nd gear ratio in 1st gear. With ratios in between. So each gear change at 7000rpm gives you a 1000rpm drop. Pull away is a bit slow, but once you get going that box is awesome. At Zwartkops I use 1st gear through turn 2 and end up in 4th halfway through turn 3.

You need to run bigger Clearances on gears and bigger back lash on diff to reduce temperature and a few other things and they use different 4th gear ratio "Shorter"
with the Golf motors

Yours will maby be different ratios than the Vee`s with the Golf motors
