Re: New Members - Introduce yourself..
Hi all,
Since I haven't done this....
My name is Eben. South African by born & schooled, lived in the UK for 7 years and now live in Slovakia since June last year. I started the original forum somewhere in 2005. Had a few hiccups on the way but its been quite stable for the last few years. I used to have a '67 Fastback which hitlers_revenge now owns. I didn't own an aircooled in the UK but now, in Slovakia I do again. It's a Fiat 126 650cc 2 cylinder beauty
Anyway that's me. Thank you guys for your support. The forum is self-funding these days so I don't have any excuse to stop running it at the moment.
Please feel free if you have any ideas or suggestions, they might be used.

Re: New Members - Introduce yourself..
Hi All
On the forum I am 'Kagiso" [as on most other forums I participate on] -- in the general I am just "oom Mac"
My first car ever was a 1969 Fastback 1600 TL .. two tone blue and aptly named "Blou Wippie" [not very original, huh??? - BUT I was young then
]
I delve in teh 4x4 world and my mode of transport these days are [mostly] Nissan 4x4, [I don't trust the other makes as much to get me there & get me back]
I am retired [Ex Govt oukie] and keep myself busy with Outreach to unreached peoples [Mainly <but not limited to> Botswana & Northern Cape - Richtersveldt] Thus my 4x4 needs.
I am married to the most awesomely wonderful female human being currently on this earth, so when I refer to Dwerrrgie, that's her
I am father to 4 and very proud Granddad of 3
We reside in Pretoria [but I still don't like it and still long back to Namaqualand
One of the forum members - Pine referred me to this forum, as I am also on the lookout for a [yippppp, you've guessed it: Another 1600 TL Fastback 1968/9 [or later]
I am considering a SYNCRO as 2nd Outreach vehicle because of it's people carrying to almost anywhere capabilities
lastly - I am NOT a typist by profession, and normally NOT very considerate of the "finger errors" that creep in whilst typing - Thus, as ' "first post" I have taken the fifteen minutes to fix as many errors as I could find .. I may not be so nice in future

Re: New Members - Introduce yourself..
Hi, My Name is Jerome.
I aquired a 75 Vw Beetle 1300 about 6 years ago as a project for my Son & I to do when he turned 16 which he has. He is very interested and will be the 2nd owner when it is complete. The vehicle is mobile and has surface rust. I am in the process of teaching him the fundamentals and starting from the bottom up. We stripped the brakes and checked the drum condition. the fronts need a skim but i would rather, convert the brakes to discs, but to use the disc's from a Golf1/3 Jetta1/3. Braking would be better and I want to change to 4 hole as i have a Jetta3 with two sets of Mag wheels that he can use. Has this been done and what pitfalls am i looking at. The body is very solid and we will be starting to prep the bodywork from this coming weekend. Any help would be appreciated. Many Thanks
