It all started when I asked my dad if I could have a beetle for my first car. He aggreed.....on one condition (I do the dirty work...sigh)
we found a likely candidate in Jhb, although it was only a body shell it was in very good condition with very little rust and no accident damage... My dads friend, oom Piet asked if he could use the beetle as a wedding car for his wedding in August!!! as he is a pannel beater by trade he promisses to help soooo this gives us 90 days to finish it!

The horrible fake split was the first thing to go! it was luckily only held in place by body putty and a rubber mallet sorted it out...
The work starts we found a donor car for all the missing bits...

We stripped the car completely in one day and what was left was confined to scrap.
Unfortunatley the previous owners of my car was very fond of rubberrising and stone chip... meaning I got pretty well acquinted with paint stripper , steel brushes and the stinking mess...

That horribe dash board had to go! We found a donor pressing and this will be welded in...

Years of sound deadening had to be scrapep off and I was best qualified for the task ( O JOY)

The wheel arches was next, also covered in layers of

and I removed it...
All the bolts and nuts will be electro plated but first they need to be cleaned, paint thinners and HCl did the job...

so far 6 days have passed and I am pretty well pleased with what has been done so far...
