the new New Beetle - topless

Post by MarshallGTi »

Audi’s A6 L e-tron wasn’t the only electric concept in Beijing from the VAG. Volkswagen had a concept of its own, the E-Bugster. This is said to give us a glimpse at what the next Beetle Cabriolet could look like.

The concept retains the earlier version’s bold look, however, the E-Bugster swops the speedster-style roof for a cabriolet design. Insiders within VW have suggested that this concept provides us with clues to the style and design of the upcoming Beetle Cabriolet.

One of the expected changes is the way the roof folds away. On the previous Beetle Cab, the roof remained exposed when you had the top down, but on the Bugster, the roof is hidden away beneath a cover. This helps give it a cleaner appearance and we certainly hope that this features on the production model.

The cover also extends towards the beck of the front seats, meaning that this is a two seater, while the edges of the cover form a spoiler that help to make the car look longer.

A production version is expected to debut next year, with it being shown off for the first time at the Los Angeles Motor Show in November.

It's not ugly. But I think it's time VW let this go now. Same for Fiat and the 500. It's time to move on. Really.

We are lucky to see all new VWs as they test them here in windhoek a lot. A black new beetle cabrio is currently cruising around. But it's not an e-bugster like this one.
Looks snazzy.
