Clutch replacement

Post by jabez »

So this morning upon driving to work my clutch started slipping.
So far I got the best price for a new kit at Flat Four.

Anyone know of a place where I can get it for cheaper?

So I take it, it aint rocket science to replace the clutch.
Any suggestions ie "links" that can help me?

I have a 1974 bug 1600. (not twinport, if it makes a difference)

+1, is that just a clutch or is it a pressure plate as well? And bearing?

Clutch+pressure plate+bearing is A Sh!t load more than that! Several times more...

What all is included in a clutch kit?
Clutch plate, pressure plate and release bearing.

Don't think someone would pay R650 just for a clutch plate.

All other sources are asking round R800

I just checked the VS website, they sell the Kit for around R855.

After you buy the kit would you be so kind as to tell us what brand it is?

A mechanic did it for me for R750.
But spoke about modifying the kit to fit. which was an extra R200.
Dunno how true that is, but ja she is sorted now.

Had a fight with him cos after he did the job he told me about the extra R200.

I get a slight shudder when I pull away in 1st though.
What could that be?
