Welcome Dennis..
you will find mostly VW air-cooled nutters here......hence the name
we welcome everyone as long as they don't try and take our vintage buses out the country..... it's a great forum to belong to...even if you drive a 1.9tdi polo....maybe if you venture out this side of the Globe sometime we can arrange for a factory tour at VW and you can see the Polo being built !! awesome experience :hangloose:
welcome !

Hi there All,

Just signed up and still working things out here, everyone has been very helpful many thanks,
loving the whole VW scene here in Sunny South Africa, I have been living in East London for just over a year now and I have to say loving this country as my new home! It beats the good old British weather any day :D

Owning a Vw Kombi overseas has always been just out if reach for me due to high prices etc and many many rust buckets out there, you never really know what your going to get, I've always tried to have a interesting cars. (pics to follow) My brother with huge sadness has just sold is 78 Danbury crossover, things are getting tough over there in the UK and unfortunately he’s had to let her go but he's always got his eye out for a new project, it’s been a real labour of love over past three years,
And loads of fun but he’s very happy to hear that now I am a pound owner of a air-cooled classic and even thinking of moving here just to own one again!

I look forward to the advice and stories as well as the meets that will be organized here in South Africa lets get one going in EL and Lets keep these classics here for everyone to enjoy.

kind regards newbie Adam

Hi all lovers of the peoples car 'VW' beetle

I'm still a new bee..Zzzz.
I have a 1976 red Beetle wich has a 1600 engine single port this was my first car which I kept after receiving more than 15 offers and i still have it.

so it was standing for more than two years and one day decided to give it a new look please don't hate me for it...'Volksrod' the project is well on it's way and still going strong at this point.
The more time i spent welding taking out the rust and dents ...etc the more i love it .

I would like to make contact with people of the same interest and share knowledge , resources ...etc and most important have fun.

Hi Guys,

Im Kamal Hanuman from Durban, South Africa. I just bought my first Kango. Not sure of the actual model.

It has a 1600tp motor. There is some work I need to do on it. The engine would be first to start of with as I think I might have pushed it a bit while driving home the day I bought it, its picked up an oil leak. Yeah, I guess thats just the start.

Regards
Kamal

Hi everyone I had my first beetle when I was 17 the one I think was in the 50's it had the arms for the indicators I bought it for fifty bucks from the OOmie next door at that time I did not think how valuable this bug would have been and sold it to a student for 20 bucks.I am now building one up pics to follow soon. I was gifted this by a close friend. I got this type4 motor from another friend which I am rebuilding to fit this bug as we are old bike do it youself mechanics I have fair knowledge of aircooled motors. I tried to source parts at the local spares but these new generation guys dont have a clue what I am looking for. I therefore surfed the net and came across the forum I was over the hills and must say LONG LIVE THE VW FORUM I trust I will receive loads of info from fellow members :zhelp: :zhelp: :zhelp: :zhelp: I am also not very pc literate so guys please forgive if I post things in the wrong sections.Sometimes I duplicate things as we do not have good reception here on the plots and the pc just stalls in the mids of submitting. regards to you all bug buds
