After two weeks of waiting for my reworked engine (Busted bearings) , I attempted to put it back in for the last two nights. Finally realised that I really needed (really needed) a clutch alignment tool or old sprocket. Which I now have, so, tonight finally success, she is in and turning over, still need to get all the other bits on.
I love car parts, I love money...one of these takes money the other brings happiness...

Is that your youngster's puzzle in the background, or is that where you practise before reassembling the gearbox?

Leads to the next question, who plays with the puzzle, and who assembles the gearbox.???

Replaced broken sunvisor clips, and changed the transmission oil. Old oil was VERY dirty, and level probably low, as I drained about 2 litres, but put 2.5 litres back, so quite glad I bit the bullet and did it!

Adjusted the rear suspension on the twin port Quad bike.

Springs were set at there weakest so they were no help to the 400kg driver (rider).

Adjusted the outer spline by 2 notches and have gained about 200mm of travel.

The big test will be when the driver (rider) gets on the thing again.

Can you replace generator bearings on a bay window bus without taking out the motor. Well the answer is yes

Image

Well the story is my dad drove up to JHB he called me 11PM stating that his bearings on his generator seized. I left JHB shortly after that to Stillfontein where he was stranded. We moved the bus and trailer and then started stripping the engine in order to remove the generator that we could repair it. We finished round about 4am. As you can see we nearly completely stripped the motor to get it out. Still think it would have been quicker to remove the motor but we did not have a jack to lower it out, so that was our option.

At 8 we went to Stillfontein where we got some help in replacing the bearings and got the bus back on the road.

This is a pic of the bus next to the road. Yes my dad towed the trailer with this body from Stillbaai to JHB second time doing the long trip with his bus and made it back save as well. And that is his new project 356.

Finally started work again on the Marigold Project. Thanks to the labours of my neighbour BUSBFK we managed to get the engine out last night. Plans to do a bit of tidying, adjusting, repairing and replacing. Then to whip out the fuel tank and give it a good rinse. After reading all the comments here about positioning of fuel filters I was keen to see where mine was placed - but I couldn't find one

Yebo Edmond, that was me. I pulled off the N1 to put oil in at the Engen, but it was to late. As I hit the small downhill the engine jammed solid.

Have just towed it home.

Tommorrow was gonna be a Rugby World Cup afternoon but I guess thats out now.
