Re: New Members - Introduce yourself..
Hi VW Family,
I'm known as Little Loafer, joined today by chance while searching the web for parts. I returned to Durban from Gauteng after 21 years to enjoy the sea. In May I turned 50 years so bought myself a project baja bug to keep busy. During my early years I have owned many VW cars ie, Beetle/Fox/Golf/Passat. Since my first car was a beetle I think my new project bug will be the last. Fortunately my son who turned 27 today is also an avid VW fan and also owned my VW golfs. We both will tackle this project together.
I aslo have a daughter who turns 24 tomorrow, do get confused the age gap between both children is 3 years. I have been happily married for 28 years to the most understanding & Lovingly person who is my soul mate. On my 50th birthday we both renewed our marriage vows. What an experienced.
We used to live in Lenasia South Johannesburg and moved to Ballito. Our home is in an estate some 2 km from the main beach. I purchased this baja bug recently only because of its unique style. The body is 1962 with the normal baja kit but the roof was cut half way. So the back seats are exposed. I am thinking of taking the roof out completely and installing a soft top roof. I purchased a complete chrome/colour import kit from Volkspares Jet Park which includes all the pulleys, tappet covers, distributor cap and cords etc. I also purchased LED back lights and Golf headlights. The inside will be full chrome checker plates (Floorboard & Door panels). I have a set of VW Jetta 5 mag rims and am looking for an adaptor plate. I also need an adaptor plate for the carb (VW original to Golf carb).
My chosen colour : Body metallic green / trim yellow seats with green twin inserts.
I glad to have joined this forum and look forward to all the news and comments.
GOD Bless to all the members

Please I know I'm probably asking a lot, but please is there anyone out there that can help me!!!!
Thanks all

Re: New Members - Introduce yourself..
Hi All,
I've been playing with aircooled vdubs for most of my valid driving career (and before) in one way or another. Most of my dealings have been with the Type1 from repairing friends cars to total rebuilds and modifications. This said its always nice to discuss ideas, opions and see what is new and happening in the aircooled scene. Should be chatting soon about my latest project (not my first watercooled project) but the first I've owned. Building a '74 (Euro drag look/road registered) bug, that will be a buget build running a golf motor (forced maybe), air cooled just too dam expensive to run hard and I have been collecting parts for years for this, so its going to be worth the wait. Anyway hope to post soon, Cheers Snoopy.
