Hi guys,

Can anyone tell me if any beetles came out with a 5speed gearbox?

All of them did,4 gears forward and 1 gear reverse.4+1=5speed :wink:

Yes, there were a few 5 speed beetles made, but you are counting in single digits worldwide.
In short, NO, they were all 4 speed.

This is a question I've been searching for an answer for for sometime.

If the cars were originslly put out with only the 4speed gearbox, is there a 5speed solution out there for those of us who've been raised driving cars with 5 speeds?

Answers anyone?

The Beetle's fourth grar is already an overdrive, so there's no need for a fifth gear. The five speed conversions that are out there simply offered better spacing between the ratios, not longer legs.

I do have 2 sets of ratios longer than a std 4th in a certain box that I fit for longer ratio and bringing the RPM down on croozing
Adapterplates Available for Rotary in Beetle and others aswell
And Special Boxes built for Rotary Conversions and Scubies
