Vw 2L aircooled

Post by GeorgeB »

I am looking to buy a 2L aircooled kombi engine and only problem is that when it revs it starts to smoke, what could the problem be. Is it simple or a major thing. Thanks again

It might be simple: there could be too much oil in it.

It might be minor; needs new rings

It might be major: Complete engine overhaul.

Take your pick.

Surely we must celebrate the guy tat invented the other three

I removed the engine on a customers bus to fix oil leaks and do a major external service parts and labour R5000
removing heads and doing rings would add abour R3000 on top of that if the rest of the engine is up to scratch

Hi Armand

I know it's off topic, but i need to find some info on replacement carburettors for the 2.0l air cooled mototr. Currently it's got 2 worn out dpsit2/3 on it. What replacement carburetors would you suggest i put on it. I saw a couple of places online that sell weber. empi kits. Are they any good. We previously tried a single intake manifold with a 38 D/D but it was rediculously high on fuel consumption and it also had a bit of a spatter. Where can i find original carburetors for the bus?

Thanks

PS: I see you're also from the NW. Klerksdorp die kant. Lol.
