Post by Adler Krause »

I have these performance parts available as a result of snapping a 2275cc aircooled crank in 5.
I bought a new motor and now have these spares laying round..
*(the motor ran under 5000km's before kaboom so all parts are in great condition)

Also I dont really have the time to wrap and package goods as well as sorting out a suitable courier service, so COLLECTION is the way to go

Not sure but it wasnt a forged unit, cast. It was the only part that could have caved..and it did.

I had exactly the same outcome last year with a cast bugpack crank. Only difference... it went at 6000rpm. The only parts I could use again was the bare cylinder heads.

Aluminium casings, Crank, rods, pistons, barrels, cam, cam gears, oil pump and 3x valves.... all broken

actually bugpack makes some of the better equip out there, much better than the EMPI crap.
You had a cast crank.... doesnt matter who made them, they are crap.
VW stopped casting their cranks after the first 1100s were introduced in the 40's.
Scat also sells cast cranks and they are just as bad, as are the EMPI cast cranks.

Had a Conrod let go at about 6000 rpm, left a nice breather opening :zhelp: .
The only hardware usable from the short block after the big bang was, 1 head, flywheel, clutch assembly and 1 piston & 2 cylinders and 1 Rod.
It even took out the dizzy. :bn:
BTW it was a stock rod in a 2020cc motor.
