Things are looking up on all fronts, The tow car is fixed (Massive bill), My racing car is almost fixed/upgraded (Massive bill) and the Formula Vee is looking in much better shape.

My father is still playing with the rear Cowl but we getting fancy now. 2 parts polyester resin, 2 parts talc and 2 parts cenospheres gives a body putty the is easy to put on, easy to sand and is ideal for fibre glass work.

The front suspension was too soft after the last round of adjustments, I could bottom the car out by sitting in it, so this weekend new springs and one or two more springs went in, now it feels good. Rear suspension still needs work though.

Next we going to modify the Fuel tank for easier refueling...

Yip, should be fixed soon. You going to make Kyalami 4agebud? I signed up for the 6 hour race next year as well.

But in Formula Vee news, Front suspension is now set just right, very happy with it! Handling is now very good except for the part where it wants to cock a front wheel still. looks like we adding a sway bar in the rear and that will sort out the problem. Rear cowl looks reasonable. Engine is running reasonably. So things are progressing. Ferdi's is 100% on the cards...

Sweet, thanks for the pictures. That is a later model but very nice.

They are so simple to make, look at the photo's at the start of the thread. I would not build a new one but rather find an old one that can atleast be put into historic single seater.

Where on earth would one find one of these things???? I took a brief look on Gumtree and saw a few for over R90 000. I'm sure you could build atleast 3 for that price...

I think this might just become my next project  I'm sure I could squeeze it in next year while I do my first year mechanical engineering... What would one have to do to get one of these licensed? Besides lights, number plates, mirrors etc. like what would it go under? I was thinking of buying a smashed or rotten beach buggy then converting it and using its papers, motor, gear box and I already have the front suspension etc. would just have to shorten it...

When I have nothing to do I'm going to read through this thread, it looks like your doing some neat work :hangloose: :hangloose: :hangloose:

No, not really. I will take photo's at some stage next to other small cars (pick one from my signature) and you will see just how small the Vee is. An AC is huge in comparison.

Single port 1300 with Formula Vee cam, stainless valves and a few other nice bits. It does not idle but when the revs pick up it really wants to go. Need to do engine run in now...

Thanks to Impi for the barrels and pistons. We went for the high compression pistons

Engine run in done (finally). few issues here and there but the car corners well and is very stable. Oil Temp and Pressure were good. Tyres were hot when I came back into the pits so It means I was cornering hard enough and there was no sign of the idiot light coming on while on track. Mini deep sump and internal baffles work very well apparently. In fact I was taking turn 4 at around 120 kph, Same speed as I was doing in the Elise(track was very slippery though hence only 120 in the Elise, usually around 130 or more).

So rather happy with the car!

Finished Rebuilding my car (After the incident at Kyalami which meant a lot had to be replaced) and I was happy with my spray job and colour choices so now we moving onto the Vee, it is in Primer and colours have been chosen and we will see how it turns out.
