Interesting...

That Puma seems sort of Eskom powered. And needs it's batteries swapped through the race regularly with other fully charged ones.

Some interesting solar powered cars that did previous races:
use for old "spacesaver" wheels"?

Fast car from the east:
(Unlike the others, no rearview mirrors, only a hooter..."piebeeep, make way, i want to pass!"

Staying Aircooled is so much nicer.
Do'nt assume anything- (While doing fault-finding).

Would love one of these to be different!

Not sure how close or far they are from actual production! :(
Another proudly South African product! :hangloose:

We were involved with the orange car from UJ. Pretty interesting ideas there.
It's powered by a Honda 600cc engine with an electric motor for the eco mode. They used the entire back section of the bike and simply build a nose section onto it. I think they won their class last year.

Lets be serious here, these are very hi-tech items of engineering, They may look like a backyard job, but man, if you see the components that go into it, and the weight reduction reverse engineering, the whole motor industry will be improved by these guys.
Was involved with a few guys some time back, and had it not been for the hold-back of battery design, we would all be doing less then 1cent per km by now.
The best economy for weight I saw was a turbo two stroke diesel with regenerative braking and AC Drive 3 Ph electric motor.

Here's me wishing these guys all the best, and may we show the rest of the world, that SA can do better then the rest... :D
