Shudder when taking off and whine, why?

Post by mishon »

Hey guys,

What would cause a Beetle to shudder quite heavily when taking off?
Its only on take off,the rest of the gear change is fine EXCEPT that in 4th,it whines.Whats does that mean?
Do I change to box?

Tnx.

Several problems cause shuddering:
Oil on the clutchplate from a leaky crank seal
Engine/tranny mountings shot
Flywheel needs refacing
Clutch cable/fork not realeasing smoothly (rust and crap in the cable sleeve)
It is likely you have one or a combonation of the above problems.
The whining could be due to low oil or a need to change it
the box may have very high milage and is worn out.
For what it's worth, ignorance has no limits ......
