My '62 DC project on a roll!!(Update)
I finally have my DC in PE.I know I said it was a '60,but after some searching found that this not to be the case.Nevertheless,it is home now and now the fun starts. The T1 is pretty complete except for a few missing parts like an engine, mirror(both interior and exterior),rear seat, enginebay valance and a few other.
It took two days to drive the 2200km to Pretoria and back and had a few problems on the way back, like the holding straps breaking and the dc nearly becoming part of the scenery somewhere in the middle of the Northern Cape.
I met up with the most fascinating guy in Bloem. This guy has the most spares that have ever seen, and was able to help me with 2 new headlights for my cabby. He has the most comprehensive collection of Beetles I have ever seen, and believe me ihave thought I have seen it all.
I have big plans for this baby, and as soon as I have pictures I will post them on this site.

Update
So,she is at the paint shop.I went to check on progress and she looks great so far.The body is great and rust is all on the surface except for the the bottom of the doors, which will be replaced with new metal.Rubber and belting solutions in PE could supply me wit almost all the rubber on the windows. The only rubbers I still need to find is the quater-lights.
Next week I'll post pics of the progress

Chris,
That looks great! Glad to see that it is not the DC that I laid my hands on all those years back. This one looks sound!
As to the remote opening doors. I have always been a fan of the clean look. I had the same kinda setup on my Notch back then, although it wasnt remote switched. If I knew then what I know now..., then I wouldve installed a remote system then. Problem being that I wasnt clued up then as I am now. So, although it wont be 100% stock, go for it if you like it. At the end of the day is doesnt realy matter what the purists say. It is your DC afterall......

New pics
The body is supprisingly good with very little rust. Most of the dents have been removed. The original colour was green,But was changed to yellow by the Dept. of Transport when it started it's duties. The original stamp of the dept.is still vissable. When finnished and sold of by them somebody made it blue and thought it good to paint the roof and dash with PVA!!
