The interior light I believe is a Split type light ?? Only need the covers, will make the rest work....



The fuel sender unit is maybe the same as the Split as well, because the 211 919 051 will not fit

I see the Fastback sender has near the same number being 311 919 051 and is a shorter unit (may fit)



The instroment panel is looking good, still wish I had a clock for it.<>>>>



The inside of the Fugly, is not too bad, will bee fine for a few years..



Could not get the pins out of the engine hatch hinges, as they had broken off, and would not budge, even with heat, so I cut the Brass hinge and freed the pin, then they cam out.
Now I will be making a new shaft and refitting them, all working....

After looking long and hard, I could not get Link pins, or needle bearings, seals and king pin bushes anywhere.

So I ordered a set of Link pins complete set, with seals, bearings, bolt,spacers, and all.
As well as 4 king pin, or as some books call them, knuckle pins.
As well as the assembly 12 seals from http://www.bustoration.com
Total cost $127.45
Well at least now I will be able to keep the wheels on the ground, and all facing the same way..
Now we wait for them to get here.
Think I will clean up some parts so long.

Do it my self, not hard work, just have to make sure when you strip a box that you do it in slow motion (retirement helps here )

Make a note of where the parts go, and replace all bushes and bearings. I always fill them with Bardahl engine additive, as its thick, and takes up the play in the old parts, as you can not replace most parts......

I find it helps to work on an old blanket, as the parts will not roll away, just wipe them clean before fitting.

Well the sun has just come out over PE, and now we can stop collecting animals two by two......

With all the rain, and the Fugly standing outside, there was not much to do.

Dragged the Dash inside, with a lot of screaming and shouting from the little women, but, a man must do what a man has to do.....

Striped all the parts I had, serviced them and took the best of both worlds.

Now I assembled it again, and I like the "New" look



Now some of you hardened VW Bus fans will be able to spot some discrepancy's here, lets see if you can spot them.???

Can say that the dash is made of 3 model's parts,

What is your comment of the final look of it, as I feel it matches the "mixed up" Brazilia thing.

Well as above, the Bay fuel sender was to long, and as getting a correct one (think its same as Splitty) seamed impossible, I had to do the next best ting.

Opened up the unit, and ensured that all was working well, before the big hack job started.

Now those that need a Splitty sender, and can not get one, maybe you should have a look here....

Removed the nut from the bottom centre shaft.
This released the outer tube.
Remover the nut and unwound the thin wire from around the bottom spreader bar.
Removed the plastic spreader bar off the centre mounting rod.
Extended the M3 thread with a die nut, down the nut, for an extra length of 25mm.
Screwed on two M3 nuts and locked them in place 25mm down the shaft.
Fitted the spreader bar, and locked that in place with a nut.
Retreaded the thin wire back around the spreader bar and shortened it on the earth spring by re soldering the end.
Cut the outer tube by 25mm, and cleaned the edge, and filed in a short groove to locate the tube in place.
Fitted a lock plate and nut.
Cut the extra length of shaft that was now protruding from the outer tube, off.
Tested and fitted it back into the tank.
Now I have a Splitty sender for the price of a Bay Sender........

Still have not got my link pins through customs... .

Thanks, I have formed my own picture in my mind, of how it looks at the customs department.

I think .... that the building is under ground... the only entrance is a massive shoot, going down into the depth of the building.... the big truck comes and dumps all the parcels down the shoot.... the little customs man can just be seen diving into the big pile, disappears for half an hour, ....comes up all out of breath.... holding the lucky parcel ....... then disappears into the X-ray room to do his thing....
So that is why you sometimes have to wait weeks for a "Vintage car Part" to make it out the system...
