Hi

I need two - One right and One Left cooling plate which covers the cycl -- and bolts onto fan housing - for a single port -- 1600 --
I think they called Cyl cooling plates - bolt onto head above and below air intake manifold...

would you have these and if so how much?
Keep it real, keep it aircooled....

Sorry, dont have those items. They are usually called cylinder shrouds. Should be easy to find in the scrapyards around Booysens or maybe Volkspares there near you in Boksburg, but expensive.
Apologies

Hi Herby
Do you have a gearbox for a 1970 1600. We have taken the car to a garage and to replace the gearbox, is astronomical.. Alan can I am sure try and change it .

Sorry, do not a have gearbox. But they are very easy to remove and dismantle. You can do it yourself and take to any of the local specialists still doing Beetle gearbox repairs. You can find them through your search engine. Then re-install it yourself or through your local back-yard mechanic. No great skills required. A good workshop book is recommended - e.g. "How to keep your Volkswagen alive...." by John Muir. You can find a copy on Kalahari or Amazon or Bid or Buy or e-Bay. Best to do all the labour intensive work yourself and get the big costs down. The book is for absolute novices but leads you through gearbox removal, dismantling, repair and re-installation. Alternatively go to this website http://www.olx.co.za/q/beetle/c-377 for used Beetle parts. I see that someone posted a gearbox available this morning for R400. But it's a bit dangerous as there is no way to test what you are buying. Have to judge the integrity of the seller. Would not pay more than R1000 for a gearbox seemingly in good working order which shows no signs of having recently been opened up. Maybe up to R2000 for a newly re-built unit. Get them to agree to accept it back for refund if it is no good. (record the conversation). Lots of sharks out there.

Hope it comes right !
