:hangloose: :hangloose: :hangloose: :hangloose: :hangloose: :hangloose: woohoo :D After 27 years the old lady hit the road again - under her own steam. Words can't really describe the feeling :drunks:
We found the motor was running a bit hot, but everything has;nt been sealed up properly yet, so not too worried at this stage, engine runs beautifully though. Some issues with 3rd and 4th gears, but, I reckon she will get to George :D
Just had supper in the garage with my Wendy woman, dad, Sean and Christo - and champagne of course :drunks: A few more things to do, but 1 day at a time .....
Don't ask me for pics Jacques, I did'nt take any, but Wendy and Sean hopefully have some cool photos :D

What an amazing experience. Both our 59’s got running this month, life doesn't get any better. :hangloose:

The first drive wasn't too bad, brakes and suspension is good, engine sounds very nice but we need to make another exhaust up to look like the early style, this current beetle one is disgusting, hence we had to use a fleetline rear valence in the interim to take it for a test drive.

The good news regarding the gearbox is its more noisy than my bus, makes my one sound better now  , thought there was something horribly wrong, but Paul’s one still seems ok at least, I think the gear link might also need further adjustment to get it correct.

Otherwise besides all the dust falling out everywhere, the bus went amazingly well.

Here are a few pics from the first voyage. :drunks:

Moving out of the garage where it had stood on jacks for the last couple of months.

Thanks guys ! We were both speechless when that little motor came to life, it's always a great moment when the engine starts on a restoration project, the whole car comes "alive", no longer that heap of metal sitting on four wheels in your garage anymore.
Plenty swearwords, hours, bucks, sweat (dammit it is really hot in this part of the world at the moment), etc, etc. Again, thanks to Sean for the motivation and enthusiasm and all the help :hangloose:

You must be very happy.

On that second-last picture... the skew pole on the pavement. Suppose it was of some use in helping to bring the kombi to a standstill?
Staying Aircooled is so much nicer.
