Some other things for Warwicks Help

Post by Warwick-Lowlight »

As if there is not enough on my plate 8)

Hannes the lad that is the flower manager here on the farm has been watching me with all my projects - after a visit to his folks down in Sutherland the other day he proudly brings in his Pipecar that he has dragged back from a neighbors farm

This is a real farm yard special
Anyhow it breaths air and needs some help

Sutherland style gearbox attachment after snapping the front nose mount -possibly after a few cold ones and a wild chase after some bunnies or something
dont know what else you would do in Sutherland as this is clearly not a star gazing vehicle - maybe part of the next Mad Max shoot

Hannes managed to get a mate to wire up the beast and on tuesday we went for a drive after fitting one of my working carbs
I dont know who shat themselves more -this thing is scary short - seat -stick then wheels
I had to be the pilot as "I know" these things
Managed to get to 2nd gear but that was where I stopped as there was no means to stop
Luckily the workshop is on a slight up hill but both of us had to use our feet as brake pads to stop

So off to the local scrap yard
Shouts of Mr Beetle as I call for assistance with one of the strippers
Armed with some tools we get the following
Master cylinder and reservior
Gearbox front mount and rubbers
Accelerator cable - as some wire was doing the job
Front horns rubbers
Used shocks
Brake line connectors

A visit to Grand Slam
Skimmed drums and new shoes
wheel cylinders
Outer seal kit
pushrod tube seals
Side shaft rubber boots

Thursday night we got the gearbox and engine out
Today he is going to take the heads off and fit the new pushrod seals
Bang the power plant back in later and fit all the new goodies

While this is going down I will be sanding down and priming the Manx
Hopefully we can get both running a little later
:hangloose:

The next on is a mate of my dad phones me yesterday
Has a game viewing vehicle in Namibia
If I help him with this little project the repayment is a trip to the farm to get the bus running and then maybe do some hunting

This could be the first long drive for the Manx

Here some pics of what he has and how he would like it to look

Getting quite stoked about this as I can use the shell of Chilli to mock up the pipework here at our local exhaust place

Well sometimes you can just be a daft dumb d%$#@#@%@%@$#s

Took the heads off and replaced all the pushrod tube seals
Put all back together and tried toset the valve clearances

Just because the book says dizzy rotor and notch equals Number 1 -saw there was something wrong as some of the gaps were seiously wrong

Plug out and make sure were No 1 is - then all was fine

Hey never to old to learn
