Re: To Buy or Not to Buy
I have a RHD dash for you. It's from a Fleetline. You will also need a RHD steering box and pedal assembly. And you'll also be left with a RHD bus with cargo doors on the right (road) side rather than the left (kerb) side.
I'm not sure about the LHD laws, but I suggest you do some more research. My understanding is you can't register a LHD built after 2000. If you can prove to the authorities that it's older, you may be able to reintroduce a LHD to the system.

If that bus is not already on the system, there is NO way you will be able to register it. Period.
Legally, I have no idea what is involved with RHD conversions.

Re: To Buy or Not to Buy
That wasn't a LHD. The debate is whether one can reintroduce a LHD to the system. No major problem with a RHD.Ron&Gill wrote:Didn't I read just a few days ago one of our forum members doing exactly that, weigh bridge and all, and saying it wasn't even that much bother?

Haha, I knew someone was gonna pick up on that, I read Merlin's post as: "No papers, no chance, period" with LHD being a seperate issue, possibly, probably, making things worse.fig wrote:That wasn't a LHD. Anyway, Jolas shows us that it can be done with a RHD, even if it is a bit of a CF. The reason I brought it up is because I see many buyers here baulking at a buy because of a lack of papers. I don't see it as such a headache.

Re: To Buy or Not to Buy
Unless a LHD vehicle was registered (and still reflects) on the system before the 23rd of July 2004, irrespective of whether or not you currently have papers in your hands for it (another issue), you cannot introduce it to the system, no matter what.Ron&Gill wrote:Haha, I knew someone was gonna pick up on that, I read Merlin's post as: "No papers, no chance, period" with LHD being a seperate issue, possibly, probably, making things worse.fig wrote:That wasn't a LHD. You can introduce a RHD, provided that it complies with the standard applicable vehicle regulations. It's a pain, but it is possible. I will need to do this for one of my vehicles this year.
I have no idea what is involved with registering a converted RHD vehicle.
As of a few months ago, new legislation states that all vehicles submitted for a Police Clearance require Data Dots/Micro Dots.
Clearer?

Re: To Buy or Not to Buy
As I mentioned previously, it could not be done had left hand drive karmann cabrio . No papers started rebuild before law change , would not reintroduce to system. Lesson learned don't buy left hand drive without it being on entails . Will cost u money and u won't be able to use it.
