Hey guys/girls! My name is Joseph (aka JOE). I'm from Gordonsbay Capetown, I have been driving my 1967 beetle 1.6 for 5 years. I am currently a final year paramedic student at CPUT. Totally love beetles and VW aircooled vehicles! I named my car bubbles..long story lol! Had a lot of ups n downs with bubbles but she always makes me feel good! I'm trying my best to restore her and keep her in good condition! Reason for joining this club first n for most, was to get connected with people who are as passionate about beetles as i am and secondly for advice! All of the best for 2013! keep it cool :hangloose:

Hi there!

I'm Caylin and I'm a Neewbie! :)
I have 59 Beetle and I'm from Paarl.

My partner in crime has left me to finish the car by myself. So I need a bit of help regarding wheels...
I had original beetle wheels widened, but now I can't fully turn the front wheels!
Now I need to get spacers made. Could someone tell me what the PCD of my beetle is? I've been getting mixed reviews on other sites.

Narrows and wides was the idea, but when I got my wheels back from the engineers, they were staggered.
I took it back and he just adjusted the offsets. Stupid. So rUnning with the staggered wheels now.

Thanks for the help :)

Hi there, noob on the block here.

I have been a Volksie fan for as long as I can remember, with a specific soft spot (or rather, hard-on) for a splitty.

But I have now made peace with the fact that a splitty is the preserve of the rich and I'm trying really hard to move on from that.

I am beginning to look for a bay. Not really sure what I want to pay and exactly what I want to do with it, but I thought this forum was the place to start. And I'm already drooling over the projects...

Keep up the good work guys! :hangloose:

Hello to all newbies.

I would love to attend the German event and even though I'll be in France on those days, I wont be able to get to Germany.

Hello everyone,
My name is Mike McCarthy , I am from North Carolina USA . I have owned , restored and raced VW's for many years . I just retired from racing as of this month but here is a video of me driving my race car last fall, it is the red bug,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJZrEFElU24

I have a new car that I will be building this year using the same engine and transmission that is in the race car. This will be a street car and I plan on driving it to shows and events. I look forward to making new friends here, Mike McCarthy

Hi

I'm a newbie.

Got a Bay window executive 2.0L kombi a while ago, I've been living in Cape Town for over two years and only used a bicycle, so this kombi is just for surfing trips.

Have had some amazing days already around the Peninsula. On the first day of the kombi it was picked up and used straight away for sundowners with some friends.

We've called the bus Westerley Windina. The name comes from a world champion surfer Peter Drouyan who turned in to Westerley Windina after a surfing accident, and I see they are busy making a film about it! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/962 ... -an-enigma .

Here is a picture from one of the first trips to kommetjie....

I also have a 1953 356 90 but it is in storage in the north and not really part of the picture, but it is also aircooled!
