Retrovan - Herman - you biscuit! You're right, good price (R1000 less than Spoornet), and door to door, and helpful. Thanks - I'd never have found them otherwise.

They've given me a cost of R2 800 for Johannesburg to Cape Town, door to door. (He said as long as, when I say Cape Town, I down mean Betty's Bay or somewhere outside the metropolitan area.) EDIT: Just received the written quote: R3192 with VAT.

The phone number is 041 922 4976, or get an online quote at peterbennmotors.co.za

By contrast, Spoornet (or Shosholoza Meyl) costs R3 800 because the Beetle is higher than 1.4 metres. A normal sedan is R2 800 - below 1.4 metres. The difference also is that you have to drop the car off at the station before 7am, and collect it at the other side. They only do Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban stations.

Motorvia: Their first response was short (and sweet?), "We are unable to assist with your request." I wrote back equally tersely and asked, "Is there any particular reason why you are unable to assist with this request?" The final response, "We are not open at that time." Oh! Okay! Well stuff you too then.

You welcome.... :D

Always had good service and they tell you when they collect, and when it will be dropped off in front of your house.

Should you take insurance, please remember to have the loading guy take photo's and you need to take photo's on off-load for the claim to stand.

I need to get a set of type 4 pistons and cylinders from Cape Town to Joburg, and a wiper motor from Jhb to CPT.

Can anyone help? I'm willing to reimburse you for your efforts in cash or parts. 8)

Sean, yes please. There are some parts lying at Retrovans place that need to come to Cape Town. They could probably fit in your cubby hole.

Will send Retrovan a PM.

Thanks.
