CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS!!!

Post by JohnCloete »

I met up with a guy here in town doing panelbeating and spray painting. He invited me to his place so that I can see the beetle he is working on. When I got there I saw a couple of beetles, his own beetle with the roof removed and still in process, a 1600s that needs some serious work (been in a serious accident) and a 1967. All that '67 needed was a rear window, the car is in EXELLENT condition. Upon asking why the car is there, I was told that the customer wants the roof removed. I can not believe that someone would want to do that with a perfect car, ALL ORIGINAL...................

I CAN BELIEVE IT. ;)

Tell the chap that he's a moron for entertaining the idea and that I have a selection of rear windows for him to use which make for a far easier and cheaper solution than removing the entire roof. :D

Hp is how fast you hit the wall, and Torque is how far you take the wall with you."

Reminds me of days when I was young & dumb, buddy and I cut up a Oval to make a Baja Bug in the 80's. But then again, you could pick them up for nothing, which was the case with this oval, no one wanted them. If only I had known then what I know now :zhelp: .

Yup, I have seen tragedies like that unfold too. But in 1980, Baja's was just the coolest and even 1600 S bugs got chopped up. Even then someone should have spoken up....

However, in 30 years there will be a group of guys complaining about some idiot's unforgivable move to fit Lambo doors on a Honda Civic. Can you hear the conversation around the braai? ...."The stupidity dudes! He should have restored that Civic to its original condition, what a waste of a 2000 model..tsk tsk" (much head-shaking and muttering) :grouphug:
