Thank you for all of you that joined in. It was a good car show, considering it was the first time at this venue. And of course the weather that kept many guys from bring their cars out.

Pine, sorry to hear of your misfortune!

Until next year! ( and I will post pics soon.)

Thanks, Thumper - sorry I missed the show! I had everything planned, got off early from work on Friday, but all of a sudden the buggy started missing Friday afternoon. I changed the condensor, points, petrol filter and adjusted the valve gaps and it seemed to be fine. Took 2 hours sleep, and left late Friday evening to drive through but as I reached George airport on the highway there was extremely dense fog (cars were doing 30km/h on the highway with their hazards on), and the buggy started missing again.

I'm not someone who normally believes in signs and premonitions, but I turned around and went back home. Seems like I wasn't meant to take the 420km journey in the dark.

Through a process of elimination the next morning (pulling each of the plug wires off one by one with the engine running) I came to the realisation that the no 3 plug was dead. A bit strange as I changed all the plugs with new ones less than 1000km ago, but I got a new NGK for the no 3 cylinder, and she is running fine again.

Next time, DEFINITELY, ok??

Note sure if others have noticed this point, but when a Aircooled VW plug fails, its mostly the # 3 Plug....

This has always tickled me pink, there must be a technical reason for this, but have as yet not found it.

Will have to see if it happens on a one stage cooler plug that I am now using, may just be heat.......

It is because #3 runs hotter than the others due the air flow you get from the cooling tin lay-out to accommodate the oil cooler.

I ones ignore those signs and nearly wipe out my family in the middle of nowhere. Now if something like that happened I stay at home. Glade you ok.
